Mark has been a business attorney for over 32 years now. In addition to his law degree University of Texas -Austin, Mark also has an MSBA from Boston University. Mark has taught accounting and finance and has worked for a major retail corporation with profit and loss responsibility for multi-million-dollar retail operations. Mark has also served as trouble shooter for the same corporation for struggling retail and food facilities. As an attorney, Mark brings a decided "real business world" perspective to legal problems. Mark also tends to speak the same language as his business clients -- they want solutions -- not pontification over arcane legal points. Mark has numerous IT clients and take care of everything from customer and independent contractor contracts to employment regimes. Mark does almost all of this type of work on a flat-fee basis (to save money for the client and to try to keep and develop the client relationship). One of the most active parts of Mark's practice during the past four years has been representing one business partner against another in shareholder, limited liability company or joint venture disputes -- what Mark calls "corporate divorce" cases. Mark has had a great deal of success resolving these cases without the parties having to engage in years of litigation. This is another business approach Mark takes -- trying to resolve disputes so the parties can go back to doing business -- spending too much time with lawyers like Mark can be bad for business.
